COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS & DESIGN HOSTS THE 1ST BEATO ANGELICO VISUAL ARTS & DESIGN CONFERENCE
In celebration of Arts month and in honor of Fra Angelico, CFAD's patron, the College of Fine Arts and Design holds 1st Beato Angelico Visual Art and Design Conference at the Museum of the Filipino People on February 16, 2013.
The Beato Angelico Visual Art & Design Conference is an activity that brought together visual art and design educators in higher education, as well as art and design practitioners who provided the academe with vital information from the industry. Activities included paper presentations on art and design, art and design practice, and teaching and learning. It also featured an exhibit of art works by selected visual artists who are members of the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP).
The theme for the first Art and Design Conference is "What else is there in Art? Perspectives from the Philippines on art's value, meaning and function". This is inspired by the question "What power does Art still have?", a question raised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to which widely varying responses were offered by philosophers and academicians.
The participants attended 2 parallel sessions, according to their department, with educators and practitioners, respectively.
